Maple Cebu

It is always a wonder why sometimes food help us cope with the daily stress at work, problems at home or even personal struggles.

This is probably why they consider food as therapeutic for it heals the soul, nourishes the mind by feeding the stomach.

We passed by this newly opened American Restaurant in Ayala Center Cebu and decided to give it a try. We browsed through their menu and whoa they were actually pricey compared to other eating places in the mall. But hey we're more than willing to try since the food looks really delish and their serving was a bit generous.

Unfortunately some offerings in their menu were currently unavailable so we ordered what was readily available. We sampled their Prime Rib Tapa, well done because I like it really cooked and not medium rare. The beef was oh so tender and flavorful, there was an obvious hint of herbs and spices which bring out the delicious taste of the meat.

I was supposed to order a salad but since it was not available as well, I ordered a different pasta which was also unavailable at that time. I was offered instead the Clam Aglio Olio minus the clams since they also ran out of clams but instead substituted with salmon. It would have been better if there was a piece of garlic bread to pair it with.

And for dessert, we chose the most raved about both on the internet and in the social media tips, Bourbon Bread Pudding. It was indeed a confectionery treat for the sweet tooth in me. The bread soaked in a caramel sauce with a creamy milky dressing was to die for. I personally love it.

The pile of 6 american style pancakes bathed in generous amount of blueberry sauce topped with a scoop of butter and dripping with sugary maple syrup was drool-worthy.

The Maple Burger too was juicy and satisfying. It was stuffed with 100% pure beef patty, lettuce, fresh slices of tomatoes, melted cheese and topped with slabs of crispy premium bacon. It comes with pickles, onion rings and tasty fries.

We also gulped our way with their liquid refreshments, Milkshakes and Fruit Smoothies and Iced Tea.

Brique Modern Kitchen

When a friend suggested we eat at this upper-class Restaurant that recently opened last August 19, I agreed easily. Instantly what was supposed to be a gathering of good friends has become a gluttons reunion as well.

The resto was already jam packed when we arrived. It's a good thing though that a group of friends just finished their meals so we took over their table.

The place was ambrosial and spells of upscale dining. The staffs were too quick to provide us with their menu placed in a paper clip board, from starters down to wines.

Southern Fried Chicken was delicious especially if you squeeze the lime and dip it on the gravy. Brique Chops too was flavorful, a hint of herbs is hard to miss and goes well with the special sauce.

Braised Beef Pot Roast was delectable, vegetables were appetizing and the beef was just tender. But what truly made an impression on me was their Fish Fillet with Porcini Buerra Blanc, the mouthwatering salmon bathed in creamy pesto sauce was oh so delish that I greedily consume it without almost sharing. Hahaha.

And to wash the down the calories we gained on that day, we tried their mint condition which was a refreshing concoction of spinach, apple, cucumber and mint.

They also have a take out counter for their breads and other pastries to go. No one can stop me from coming back to this addicting restaurant. Hahaha.

Coffee Prince

There is no cure for my sickness, trying out new coffeeshops in the metropolis. Hahaha.

Conspicuously located at the center of Cebu City just beside Suarez Bros, this residence turned Cafe is another Korean owned Coffee House using a playful theme of stuffed animals and cartoon characters accentuated with a colorful milieu.

The place is child friendly and best for family gatherings as well.

Their Luther Burger, a unique twist ofthe  usual burger using Krispy Kreme Glaze Doughnut Bun, sliced in half with beef patty, bacon and cheese. It's a battle between sweet and salty flavors. It comes with fries, salad and scrambled egg.

I tried their smooth and velvety Vanilla Frappe. They have 2 options either using whipped cream or cotton candy. Too bad cotton candy was unavailable.

                                   Double Espresso Caramel Macchiato

Since it recently opened, ventilation is a bit off but hopefully it gets better on my next visit.

Baristas are warm and friendly, dressed like the ones shown on the Koreanovela with the same title.

Sasam's Coffee

Pegged as one of Cebu's newest classy coffee shop, this cafe aims to please every coffee and sweet lovers.

The baristas are really attentive and accommodating. And the place spells relaxation minus the musty ambience.

Caramel Macchiato was ok but I love their Matcha Gone Bananas more because of the fruity twist.

Fudge brown with vanilla ice cream was for me the winner, I truly love it. We also tried Passion Fruit Melting Moments  but it was too sour for us.

La Lucha Taqueria

There's no doubt that Cebu has learned to adapt the diversity of International cuisines.

This is evident on the growing foreign-themed restos spread all over the metropolis and the neighboring cities.

La Lucha Taqueria, formerly known as La Lagrima Taqueria first opened in BTC (Banilad Town Center) as shared by the staffs. They have been around for quite sometime and transferred to their new location which is very near baseline.

According to google La Lucha means the struggle and the old name La Lagrima means the teardrop. For me both signifies sadness and grief, but their meal make you happy definitely.

                    Super Burrito

It is an underrated Mexican eating place (Taqueria literally means Mexican restaurant specializing in tacos) perhaps because of their location too.

             Super Flour Quesadillas

I love their super burrito and also their super flour quesadilla. Horchata was a bit unusual though the pineapple mango drink was just ok.
