Cafe Bai

Nothing beats the sheer excitement of a foodie seeing rows and rows of sumptuous good eats lining up before his very eyes. I should know because this is the story of my life.

The most gratifying thing about buffet is the idea of having the freedom to choose what you want to savor and just freely indulge in the best selection the restaurant has to offer. This holds true with Cafe bai.

Upon entering the resto, you’re on a culinary tour because of the Asian and Western cuisines grouped accordingly.

With Buffet, you only have one mission in mind: satisfying your gourmet pleasure! I’m sure I did, with the vast array of delectable dishes prepared right before my eyes.

You know it’s a great buffet restaurant when the spread of dishes is very much extensive including buffet favorites - Pasta and Pizza. Premium meats like beef, pork, chicken were being served stylishly and even the Peking duck was basking in all its glory.

Dimsum, Korean, Indian and Japanese station offered quality and savoury dishes as well. After all, it was a celebration of the Chinese New Year which turned into an amazing dining experience.

The menu offered a high end selection of seafood produce that are meticulously prepared, from crabs and shrimps to lobsters. It was a seafood feast like no other.

The modern style of display of the desserts is exquisitely presented hence making it more attractive. It absolutely showcased mouthwatering sweet tooth treats.

They also have a free flow of soft drinks, juices and draft beers. Ice cream and halo halo are also available at the halo-halo station.

For a reasonably priced and quality buffet, Cafe bai is the best place to be at.

Earth all day dining

Solea Mactan Cebu is one of the hotels that joined the plethora of luxury hotels clustered in Mactan, Cebu. No wonder the buffet restaurant’s façade already describes a modern and posh 5-star hotel opulence.

With the sophisticated glass panels, long wooden tables, Kenneth Cobonpue furnitures and entire ceiling adorned with expensive looking chandeliers plus eye catching mini pendant hanging lamps, the atmosphere absolutely spells stylish and classy.

Aptly called the Earth Restaurant, this restaurant seemingly allowed its patrons to revolve around its orbit of great menu ideas from Oriental to Western cuisines. Words cannot even justify how excellent their buffet is. What can I say, one has to go there and experience it.

We tried their dinner buffet for a cheaper price due to their Buy 1 Take 1 Buffet Promo extension. You can still enjoy a limitless and absolutely delectable dishes for dinner on a weekday or weekend lunch buffet for P1200 net (good for 2 persons) only until this month.

Considerably, buffet dining continues to be a popular choice for countless restaurant customers. It is mainly because the wide array of food choices never fail to satisfy a gluttons particular cravings.

We all eat with our eyes and by just looking at how appetizing the foods being served are, indeed the truth’s not far behind. It’s a banquet of endless food selections depending on the flavor, freshness, origin and style.

The elegant food, spot on drink pairings and unique presentations make this a one of its kind buffet experience. The fragrant smell of food is so distinctive that even before it reaches your mouth, you can almost taste it.

Let your taste buds travel as you hop from one drool worthy meal station to another - ranging from grill station to meat dishes, salad bar to dessert station, you are in for a gastronomic adventure.

For meat lovers, they serve everything from grilled pork and chicken to steaks which is already a heady reason for meat-loving appetites. Digging into the unlimited, the salad bar is a pure delight in every bite of garden freshness.

The grill station reminds you of the summertime aroma of your neighbor's grill while the dessert station is reminiscent of the lavish desserts prepared during town fiestas or family feasts.

And of course who doesn’t love the authentic Asian flavors of Korean and Japanese cuisines to Filipino recipes. It was indeed a never ending symphony of flavors and culinary offerings.

The cozy ambiance and great service complete our pleasant experience.

So, if you’re longing for an exceptional buffet dining experience, Earth Restaurant is your best choice!

Kabujuan Islet

It is an undeniable fact that there are so many unexplored and rarely visited Islands in the Philippines. This is of course we are considered an archipelago and because we have a plethora of must-see white sand beaches spread across the country.

Kabujuan islet is definitely not an exception. This uncrowded, go to summer destination is unspoiled because it has not been changed or damaged by people yet.

From afar, it is a captivating image of pristine nature -where a lighthouse stand tall at the center, the whiteness of the sand and the clarity of the water is already a promise of a fun filled visit.

This mesmerizing island can be reached via Surigao City either by Van or by Bus. All you have to do is tell the driver to drop you off at Claver port where bancas or small pump boats are lining up, ready to transport you to this eye-catching islet.

We were so fortunate when we went there because we had the island to ourselves since it was Claver's fiesta and everyone's busy with the preparation. The island is eerily beautiful and mysterious. The powdery pink-ish sand on the other side of the island, white sandy beach at the front, instagram-worthy rock holes and formations along with the crystal clear waters make this island worthy to be part of your "bucket list" beach destinations.

Upon our arrival on the island, we were so eager to climb the lighthouse and reach the top. The panoramic view from the top was spectacular but our acrophobia heightened when we looked down. The breathtaking view below is so hypnotic it teases us to looked down again. So, we decided to capture a few snapshots of this beautiful picture postcard setting and then heard our footsteps descending the stairs.

The only downside I guess is the pathway going up. It was a bit brittle and fragile and yes a seemingly hyperventilating experience (for Sumo Wrestlers like me hahaha). Also, there are no stores in the island so it is imperative to bring food, snacks, water and other necessary provisions for beach outings.

It would be a worthwhile experience if you explore the place and go around the island. There are so many areas in the island where the landscapes are as beautiful as the scenery that greets you upon reaching the beachfront from Claver port.

All in all, it was majestic, it was stunning, it was beautiful. Indeed, a must visit beach destination in Surigao Del Norte.

Rate for pump boats by the way ranges from P600 - P1000 depends on the season and your talent in haggling. This is already a round trip fare. Travel time from mainland to the island is approximately 20-25 mins. Upon request, the bangkero will fetch you at the agreed time so it’s best to have their mobile numbers.

Note: No entrance fees on the island so for now it’s still free of charge. On the other hand, Claver has a strict policy on littering and proper waste disposal so clean as you go!

P.S. Our bangkero’s name is Archie Bulawin with mobile number 09464785006.
