The Pig & Palm

We all long for that one place where we can celebrate just about anything and of course a seemingly banquet of delicious possibilities.

The Pig and Palm suits the description - an upscale eating place where high-class dining meets absence of noise.

What's so special about this trendy new restaurant by Michelin Starred Chef Jason Atherton is its modern and sophisticated atmosphere reminiscent of fine dining.

The original plan was to open a restaurant in Manila but they instead established a resto in Cebu which opened to the public last June 27, 2016.

Since it was our first time, we asked the staff what food to order. It was an insanely decadent meal from the cocktail drinks down to desserts.

For the snacks and small bites, she recommended Chicken Karaage which is a different but delicious take on the Japanese equivalent. It was tender and flavorful. The meat was absolutely juicy and there was a hint of crispiness you can almost hear us crunching.

In Big Plates to share, we ordered the Seafood rice with chorizo and lime. It was creamy and tasty like a fusion of appetizing flavors inherent to Spanish cuisines.

And of course it’s a must entirely to sample one of their signature desserts which is the Baked 60% Chocolate Moelleux with sea salt and vanilla ice cream. It is comparable to a lava cake but more like a hot thick chocolate mixture in a bowl topped with ice cream. This takes 15 minutes to prepare so it would be best to order it ahead and then just inform the staff to serve it later.

I must say I am not a cocktail type of person, but the Dill or No Dill and Rum DMC were indeed the bombs! Both were explosive drinks that tempted us to order for another round if only we were not headed to work.

Not only was it a perfect place for dining but also the quality of their food was top notch!

Birdseed Breakfast Club + Cafe

This posh and trendy cafe is absolutely a glutton’s haven of delicious breakfast possibilities.

Unfortunately, the waffles and pancakes were not available when we went there. Hence we tried their other food varieties.

Since the name says it all, their main offering is all day breakfast indulgence though their menu contains other meal specials apart from morning food recipes.

There were a few personal favorites that seemingly delighted our taste buds and filled every inch of our tummies with food bliss.

Mom’s Tapa Silog is one of their signature dishes that I refused not to sample. The great chewy texture of the meat with a variety of savory and tasty flavors did not disappoint.

Salmon Silog which is also one of their best sellers was incredibly delicious, truly a guilt-free treat.

Prawn and Pomelo Salad which is a healthy meal option was so perfect in taste not to mention its great presentation.

The Breakfast Skillet which is good for sharing was like a banquet of happiness that kisses the boring breakfast goodbye because of the massive components such as French toast, sausage, sunny side up eggs, bacon and veggies.

Their signature drink called Birdseed Tea was a liqueur that was refreshingly satisfying.

         Mexican Hot Choc Pudding

                      Mango Cake

It's a perfect place to chill and dine with family or friends.

Camden Cafe

I came across this trending cafe called Camden through a mobile app on restaurants and places to eat in Cebu.

Strangely we are drawn to this cafe that offers all day breakfast perhaps because breakfast is our favorite meal of the day.

The smell of freshly made pancakes along with the aroma of coffee in the morning filled the air as we cross the threshold of this hidden cafe.

This small cafe provides full restaurant service and is located in the heart of Cebu City which is very near Chong Hua.

Their menu cleverly includes descriptions for every dish available from Omelettes, Sandwiches, Pasta, Pancakes to their unique blend of coffee concoction and juices.

The Spaniard Omelette (Spanish chorizo, black beans, homemade salsa and pepper jack cheese) was tasty. The zesty orange drops integrates well with the creamy egg making it a meal made in rich and soft omelette heaven.

Banana Pancakes were light and fluffy. The buttery warmth of the thin flat cake, crisscrossed with melted chocolate sauce,  sprinkled with generous amount of confectioner sugar, soaked in maple syrup and topped with banana slices made this breakfast favorite a refreshing sugar-filled treat.

The place indeed has the great recipe for a sumptuous meal and you can even linger over a freshly squeezed juice or caffeine fix.

Soi eat thai love thai

There are times that you need not travel the world to sample other country’s local cuisines. You just have to step out of your house and into the mall.

I have always been a Thai food lover (but being a foodie I basically eat anything hahaha). So when I saw this “opening soon” ad of a Thai restaurant months ago, I was ecstatic; though it seemed like the waiting was forever.

Soi eat thai love thai resto is currently on its dry run. But most of the dishes if not all shown on their menu are available. We are even greeted not just by their staffs but also the fragrant aroma of the food which is every gluttons weakness. Needless to say the meal we eat transports us to the place where the course originates just by its smell, its taste and its appearance.

While waiting for our orders, we were provided with a hot & spicy peanuts and chips served on a small rectangular plate as their complimentary food.

We ordered their appetizer which is Egg in Tamarind Sauce. It was basically sliced boiled egg drenched in tamarind nectar which gave the delicious dish its mild sour taste.

The staff told us to try their Suko Thai soup which has a 2 chilli symbol on their menu that means it’s really hot/spicy (1 chilli symbol means mildly hot/spicy). The noodle soup with bean sprouts, pork balls, meat and a hint of herbs & spices is similar to Vietnam’s Pho. It is spicy for me but could be very spicy for some especially if you're not into spicy food.

I never hesitated to sample their Pad Thai (we opted for Shrimps) since I love this dish. So they have 3 options: Shrimp, Chicken and Tofu. Their pad Thai is unique because it's served with a web-like scrambled egg forming a cover for the noodles; topped with shrimps, garnished with spring onion, bean sprouts & crushed peanuts on the side plus a slice of lime.

And of course a Thai meal is never considered a Thai meal without the bagoong fried rice. The serving is actually good for 2-3 persons. It was really really good and what makes it more special is the weeny slice of salted egg that boosted the flavor of the rice dish and complements well with the bits of scrambled egg, tiny slices of green mango, shrimps, onions, green beans and of course a slice of lime and cucumber.

Currently they offer a free Thai Iced Tea upon dining for every P400 worth of purchase.

District on 53rd

You can always tell that you will be served with great food judging by the delicious smell permeating in the restaurant's setting.

This white table cloth restaurant's milieu speaks of elegant designs with a modern vibe. The lighting was just right and the table settings was precise as well, the very components of a good restaurant atmosphere.

Placed at the very heart of Cebu's technology hub, this quaint and enticingly sophisticated restaurant boasts of dishes that will fill every gluttons desires from soups, entrées, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas to wines, pastries and ice creams.

We enjoyed all the food that we sampled from the big breakfast, BBQ chicken wrap, seared pork chop, stir fry soba noodles to the raw Atlantic salmon.

The pink moscato wine was the right wine that enhances our ordered dishes to perfection. We also enjoyed the ube cheesecake and the gelatos (espresso, pistachio and blueberry cheesecake).

Superb customer service as well. All in all it was a great dining experience!
